Mahé: the gateway island
Mahé is the largest island and the arrival point, home to the capital Victoria, the long sweep of Beau Vallon beach, forested peaks and a string of luxury resorts.
It is the natural base for the first nights of a trip, with easy access to beaches, hiking trails and island-hopping by ferry or short flight.
Praslin and the Vallée de Mai
A short hop from Mahé, Praslin is home to the UNESCO-listed Vallée de Mai, a prehistoric palm forest that produces the famous coco de mer, and to Anse Lazio, regularly rated one of the world's best beaches.
It is quieter and more exclusive than Mahé, with elegant resorts set above secluded bays.
La Digue and Anse Source d'Argent
