Our Tanzania tour packages from Delhi combine the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire with an optional beach stay in Zanzibar. They are timed around when Delhi actually travels: the June summer holidays, which match the start of Tanzania's dry season, and the December to February winter break, when the southern Serengeti's calving season is in full swing and Zanzibar is warm and sunny.
There is no non-stop flight from Delhi to Tanzania, so routing matters. We usually fly you into Kilimanjaro for the safari and home from Zanzibar, which avoids backtracking and keeps the trip to a single connection each way. Choosing a Gulf connection also means most travellers do not need a yellow fever vaccine, which is not the case if you route through Nairobi or Addis Ababa.

Delhi to Tanzania: airport, flight routes and transfers
Every Tanzania trip from Delhi uses one connection. Where you connect decides your journey time, your arrival airport and whether you need a yellow fever vaccine.
Delhi (DEL) to Tanzania
- Via Doha or Dubai: the most popular choice from Delhi, with evening and late-night departures and onward flights to Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar. No yellow fever certificate needed for this routing.
- Via Muscat: a good-value option to Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.
- Via Addis Ababa or Nairobi: often competitive on price, but a long transit can mean you need a yellow fever certificate for Tanzania and for your return to India.
- Total time: roughly 10–15 hours, depending on the layover.
Within Tanzania
- Kilimanjaro / Arusha to the parks: scenic road drives to Tarangire and Ngorongoro, and light-aircraft flights into the Serengeti.
- Serengeti to Zanzibar: a light-aircraft or domestic flight via Arusha, so you do not need to return to the mainland airport.
Delhi travel tips
International flights leave from IGI Terminal 3. From Gurgaon or South Delhi, allow 30–60 minutes; from Noida or East Delhi, allow 1–1.5 hours in evening traffic.
An open-jaw ticket, into Kilimanjaro and out of Zanzibar, is usually the smartest routing from Delhi for a safari-and-beach trip.
Light aircraft in Tanzania usually allow about 15 kg per person in soft bags. Pack in a duffel and leave bulky winter clothing from the Delhi flight at your Arusha hotel.

Indian passport holders need a visa for Tanzania, applied for online through the official Tanzania eVisa portal. Zanzibar is covered by the same visa. Whether you need a yellow fever vaccine depends on your routing, so we check it for you.

Land packages start at around ₹1.8 lakh per person for a value safari, ₹2.5–3.5 lakh for mid-range and ₹4 lakh or more for luxury. Once return flights from Delhi are added, most travellers spend roughly ₹2.4–3.4 lakh on a value trip and ₹3.1–4.5 lakh on a mid-range trip. A Zanzibar extension, internal flights and park fees are the biggest cost drivers.
No. There is currently no non-stop flight from Delhi to Tanzania. Travellers connect once, usually in Doha, Dubai, Muscat or Addis Ababa, and land at Kilimanjaro (JRO) for the northern safari parks, Dar es Salaam (DAR) or Zanzibar (ZNZ). Total journey time is usually 10–15 hours.
For the Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire, fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) near Arusha. If you are adding Zanzibar, we usually book you into Kilimanjaro and home from Zanzibar, so you do not have to backtrack.

You will need it if your routing includes a long transit in Nairobi or Addis Ababa, or if you combine Tanzania with Kenya, because both Tanzania and India can then ask for the certificate. Yes. A Kenya and Tanzania combination is a popular 10–12 day trip from Delhi, linking the Masai Mara with the Serengeti and often ending in Zanzibar. For this route you will need a Kenya eTA as well as a Tanzania visa, plus a yellow fever certificate.
