Best MICE Destinations in India

Ten cities compared for conferences, incentive trips, dealer meets and leadership offsites, with venue capacities, seasons and planning advice.

The best MICE destinations in India depend on what the event has to do. Delhi NCR and Mumbai have the largest purpose-built convention centres for national conferences and exhibitions; Hyderabad and Bengaluru combine big venues with strong business-hotel inventory; and Goa, Jaipur, Udaipur and Kerala work best when the setting itself is part of an incentive trip or leadership offsite. This guide compares ten destinations by event type, venue capacity, access and season.

MICE tourism in India has grown quickly, and the Ministry of Tourism now promotes the country as a meetings destination: its MICE venue booklet profiles more than 120 venues across 60 cities, and at the 2025 Meet in India Conclave the Union Tourism Minister set a goal of bringing at least ten Indian cities into the world's top MICE destinations. For corporate groups, that means more choice than ever, and more need to match the venue to the brief. The capacity figures below are taken from the Ministry's booklet.

10 Best MICE Destinations in India for Corporate Groups

1. Delhi NCR, Best for National Conferences and Exhibitions

Best for: National conferences, large exhibitions, association and government-facing events
Airport: Indira Gandhi International, with connections to every major Indian city
Watch out for: Winter fog and air quality from November to January

Delhi NCR now has two of India's largest purpose-built venues. Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan, which hosted the G20 Leaders' Summit, and Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, close to the airport, can both take events in the thousands. Gurugram and Aerocity add a deep supply of business hotels with ballrooms for 200–1,000 guests.

For most corporate groups the question is not capacity but movement: plan venue-to-hotel transfers around Delhi traffic and keep the conference hotel close to the venue.

2. Mumbai, Best for Product Launches and Financial-Sector Events

Best for: Product launches, BFSI and media-sector conferences, investor events
Airport: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International
Watch out for: Heavy monsoon rain from June to September

The Jio World Convention Centre in Bandra-Kurla Complex gives Mumbai a large, modern venue in the middle of its business district, alongside the city's landmark hotels. That makes it the natural choice when the audience is Mumbai-based: clients, analysts, media or senior leadership.

Hotel rates and traffic make Mumbai one of the more expensive Indian cities for a residential event. It works best for one- or two-day programmes rather than long stays.

3. Hyderabad, Best for Large Sales and Industry Conferences

Best for: Sales conferences, technology and pharma events, multi-day conventions
Airport: Rajiv Gandhi International
Watch out for: High temperatures in April and May

Hyderabad's HICC and the neighbouring HITEX exhibition centre sit together in the HITEC City area, with hotels within easy reach. For a large residential conference this is one of the simplest set-ups in India: delegates stay, meet and exhibit in one district.

Hyderabad generally offers good value compared with Mumbai or Delhi for events of similar size.

4. Bengaluru, Best for Tech Conferences and Trade Shows

Best for: Technology conferences, trade fairs, training and hackathon-style events
Airport: Kempegowda International
Watch out for: Long airport and cross-city transfer times

Bengaluru's mild climate makes it one of the few Indian cities that works almost all year. The Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) on Tumakuru Road and KTPO in Whitefield handle trade shows, while the city's business hotels suit 100–500-person conferences.

Distances are the main constraint. Pick a venue and hotel in the same part of the city, and budget generous transfer time from the airport.

Luxury resort setting suited to a corporate incentive trip or leadership retreat
For incentive trips and offsites, the resort or palace often matters more than the city.

5. Goa, Best for Incentive Trips and Resort Conferences

Best for: Incentive trips, dealer meets, resort-based sales conferences
Airports: Dabolim in the south and Manohar International at Mopa in the north
Watch out for: Monsoon from June to September; peak rates over Christmas and New Year

Goa is India's default answer to "a reward, not just a meeting". Large beach resorts combine ballrooms, lawns for gala nights and enough rooms to keep a whole group on one property, which simplifies logistics considerably.

With two airports, check which one is closer to your resort before booking group flights: North and South Goa are far enough apart for this to matter.

6. Jaipur, Best for Dealer Meets and Heritage Award Nights

Best for: Dealer and channel-partner meets, award nights, heritage-themed incentives
Airport: Jaipur International, with a short flight or road trip from Delhi NCR
Watch out for: Summer heat from April to June

Jaipur combines a large modern venue, the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC), which hosts the Great Indian Travel Bazaar, with palace hotels and heritage settings that make an awards evening memorable. Its closeness to Delhi NCR keeps travel simple for North Indian teams.

Heritage venues usually need permissions and have their own rules on sound, timing and décor, so confirm these before promising a fort or palace dinner.

7. Udaipur, Best for Leadership Offsites and Premium Incentives

Best for: Leadership offsites, board retreats, small high-value incentive groups
Airport: Udaipur (Maharana Pratap Airport), with direct flights from Delhi and Mumbai
Watch out for: Limited room inventory at top properties in peak season

Udaipur's lake palaces suit groups of 10–100 people who need privacy, quality and a setting that feels like a reward. It is not a large-conference city, and that is the point: senior teams get the property largely to themselves.

Book early. The best palace hotels have relatively few rooms and are popular for weddings in the same months corporate groups want.

8. Kochi and Kerala, Best for Conferences with a Leisure Add-On

Best for: Mid-size conferences, incentive extensions, wellness-led offsites
Airport: Cochin International
Watch out for: South-west monsoon from June to August

Kochi gives planners a proper convention venue, the Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre, with Kerala's backwaters and hill stations within a few hours. That makes it a good fit when the business programme is followed by a reward extension.

Keep the conference days in Kochi and the leisure days elsewhere, rather than asking delegates to commute between them.

9. Kolkata, Best for Large Regional Conferences in East India

Best for: East India conferences, association meetings, cultural evenings
Airport: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International
Watch out for: Humid monsoon months and major festival dates

The Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town gives Kolkata one of the larger conference venues in the country. For companies with large teams in East and North-East India, it avoids flying everyone across the country.

Check the dates of Durga Puja and other festivals: they can be a cultural highlight for an evening programme, but they also affect hotel availability and traffic.

10. Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, Best for Industry Summits and Trade Exhibitions

Best for: Industry summits, manufacturing and trade exhibitions, state-partnered events
Airport: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International, Ahmedabad
Watch out for: Very hot summers; alcohol restrictions in Gujarat affect gala-dinner planning

Mahatma Mandir and the Helipad Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar give Gujarat's capital large-scale convention and exhibition space, and the area is used to hosting big business summits.

Gujarat is a dry state, so plan social evenings accordingly and brief delegates in advance.

Best Time to Hold a Corporate Event in India

For most of the country, October to March is the main event season: temperatures are comfortable, rain is limited and outdoor gala nights are realistic. It is also peak season, so book venues and room blocks early.

PeriodWorks wellPlan around
October–MarchAlmost everywhere; Rajasthan, Goa and Kerala at their bestPeak rates, wedding-season competition for venues, winter fog in North India
April–JuneBengaluru and indoor city venuesIntense heat across North and Central India
June–SeptemberIndoor conferences in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi NCRMonsoon in Mumbai, Goa and Kerala; outdoor events at risk

Also check India's financial calendar. Many companies hold sales conferences in April or May to launch the new financial year, and incentive trips after the year closes in March.

India or a Short-Haul Overseas Programme?

For many incentive trips the real decision is not which Indian city, but whether to stay in India at all. A short-haul overseas programme can feel like a bigger reward, but it adds visas and international flights.

FactorProgramme in IndiaShort-haul overseas programme
DocumentsNo visas for Indian delegatesPassports and visas or e-visas for every delegate
Travel timeDomestic flights, usually under three hoursTypically three to six hours to destinations such as Dubai, Thailand or Vietnam
Perceived rewardStrong for resort and palace settingsOften stronger for top-performer incentives
Best fitConferences, dealer meets, large groups, short noticeIncentive trips, smaller reward groups, repeat winners

As a guide, Luxury Unlocked's MICE and corporate travel team quotes indicative land costs of ₹90,000–₹1.6 lakh per delegate for a three- to four-night regional offsite in Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Dubai or Thailand, before flights, visas and GST. A costed comparison against an Indian option is the quickest way to make the decision.

Blueprint Example: A 3-Day Dealer Meet in Jaipur for 150 Partners

Illustrative corporate event itinerary · 150 channel partners

This is how we would structure a dealer meet for a consumer-durables brand rewarding 150 channel partners from across North India. It is a worked example, not a past client booking.

  1. Day 1, Arrival: Staggered arrivals by air and road, check-in at a hotel with a ballroom for 150 and a lawn, then a welcome dinner with a short address from the sales head.
  2. Day 2, Business day: Morning business review and product showcase in the ballroom, regional breakouts after lunch, and an evening at a heritage venue, subject to permissions.
  3. Day 3, Recognition: A morning awards ceremony for top dealers, a half-day city experience, and departures timed to flight waves.

Why it works: the business content fits into one focused day, while the recognition and the setting give partners a reason to attend next year.

How to Choose a MICE Destination in India

  1. Define the outcome: decisions, learning, recognition or sales leads. The format follows from that.
  2. Map where delegates start: a destination that is one flight away for most of the group saves both cost and fatigue.
  3. Size the venue to the agenda: confirm plenary, breakout and dining space for your actual layout, not the maximum figure.
  4. Check the calendar: monsoon, heat, festivals, wedding season and the financial year all affect availability and price.
  5. Contract carefully: agree room-block release dates, attrition and cancellation terms, and how GST is invoiced.
  6. Plan the movement: arrival waves, airport transfers, venue shuttles and a named person on the ground.

MICE Destinations in India, FAQs

It depends on the event. Delhi NCR and Mumbai suit large conferences and exhibitions, Hyderabad and Bengaluru suit sales and technology conferences, and Goa, Jaipur and Udaipur suit incentive trips and leadership offsites.

Among the venues in the Ministry of Tourism's MICE booklet, Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, Delhi lists the highest conference seating at 11,500, while Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan lists the largest covered exhibition space at 110,000 square metres.

Goa is the most common choice because large resorts can keep a whole group on one property. Udaipur and Jaipur suit premium, heritage-led incentives, and Kerala works well as a reward extension after a conference.

Jaipur and Udaipur are both a short flight from Delhi and offer palace and resort properties suited to small senior groups. Gurugram and Aerocity hotels work for a one-day offsite without travel.

October to March suits most destinations. April to June is very hot in North and Central India, and the June to September monsoon affects Mumbai, Goa and Kerala, although indoor city conferences continue year-round.

Allow six to nine months for large conferences and peak-season resort or palace events, which compete with weddings for venues. Smaller offsites in the shoulder season can often be arranged in two to three months.

India avoids visas and long flights and suits large groups and short notice. A short-haul overseas trip to destinations such as Dubai, Thailand or Vietnam often feels like a bigger reward for top performers. A costed comparison of both is the most reliable way to decide.
